Amanda + Dan

MELBOURNE ENGAGEMENT PHOTOGRAPHER

Something that’s become really important to me over the last few years is scheduling some time in my calendar a few times each year where I don’t take on any shoots for a week or two so I can catch up on admin things, like blogging. It’s just something I find really hard to do in bite sized pieces and to work consistently into my week to week schedule.

It takes a lot of time to choose the photos, compress the photos, prepare the photos in a blog layout, upload to the blog, and then write content - let alone choosing, preparing and uploading photos for each blog post to various social channels. And instead of spreading all those tasks out, it’s easier to get my head into the zone when I spend a solid week batching it out instead lol!

And guess what! The first week of January has become one of those times for me. Going back through my sessions from the previous year and compiling them for blog posts is a good way for me to take stock of the previous year, and get my head ready for the wonderful people and stories I’ll get to capture in the upcoming year.

Sometimes though, I have moments of 😬😧😳 when I realise it’s been more than 12 months since a session happened, and I haven’t shared it on my blog…like this one!

This experience was so much fun for me because I had actually met and chatted with Amanda on Instagram about a year before Dan got in touch with me. I knew that they lived in Canberra and that she really wished she lived closer so she could have a couples session with me, so when Dan emailed me to tell me they were coming to Melbourne and that he wanted to plan a surprise proposal for her and have me there to capture the whole thing, my heart melted into a big puddle 😍😍!

Over the next few weeks we made a plan - he’d take her for a picnic at one of her favourite parks and I would come and surprise her. And then right when she wasn’t suspecting anything else, BAM! PROPOSAL!

I think it worked perfectly, she was so excited and then sooo shocked when Dan got down on one knee.

These two lovebirds are currently living in London, and I hope that reliving this beautiful moment brings even just a few minutes of happiness to you both while you’re in lockdown. I hope that life can get back to normal for you soon. I’ve been thinking of you and hope you’re going okay β™₯.

Sending you both lots of love,

L xo
