Bumps
MELBOURNE MATERNITY PHOTOGRAPHER
Your journey as a mum begins here.
This bump, and the little one inside it, is a once in a lifetime experience - literally.
“Photograph all my lumps and bumps?! Noooooo!”
You wouldn’t be alone if your first thought was something like “OH HELL NO!” ...especially if your body has transformed to a place you might not have imagined it ever going.
Pregnancy isn’t always pretty, especially when you don’t feel glowy or glamorous - the idea of immortalising all your lumps and bumps in photographs is pretty confronting!
It’s totally normal to feel slow, and tired, and swollen - and it can be hard to accept the “glowy” compliments when you feel anything but.
The thing is though; you can be both things. You can feel slow, tired, swollen, lumpy, and fat - and still be glowing, radiant and beautiful. You can, I promise.
You are creating life inside you 🤯. Your body is doing incredible things to make room for your baby…and I’m on a mission to help mums celebrate their bodies.
It also helps that your bump isn’t the main focus of your session; we don’t need to spend your whole session taking photos of you cradling your belly - a simple hand rubbing the spot you get kicked in the most is often all that’s needed. Instead, I want to capture things like the way your partner tenderly touches your bump, the way they hold you extra gently, your glow, your joy, your excitement!
This is the last time it will be just you, and I’m all about capturing what that feels like, not just what it looks like.
Bumps of all shapes and sizes are welcome.
Imagine if we could wave a magic wand, and forget about all the things that make you feel self-conscious just for a moment.
What if you could really melt into all the love and excitement you’re feeling for the little bean growing inside you. One day (all too soon) that little human will be a person who will walk and talk and have their own amazing personality…and it all started with you.
It started with your stretch marks, the cramps as your organs shift and move to make space for your baby & the extra lumps. The butterflies in your belly that turned into wriggles and stretches and a foot kicking you in the ribs, the days you spent hardly sleeping and being unable to see your toes.
And although those days feel like eternity at the time, they will come to an end and believe it or not - you’ll start to forget what it looked like and felt like way sooner than you think.

Direction + Guidance
The first thing I do at every session is just have a chat with you, and see how you’re feeling. We acknowledge that feelings are not mutually exclusive, and that it’s possible to experience anxiety, and still experience joy and happiness and laughter at the same time.
I give lots of direction to you throughout the whole session, and I'm constantly showing you photos on the back of the camera so you can see what I'm seeing.

A fun experience
There’s no standing still and smiling at the camera here. I prefer to use prompts rather than poses - this means my clients look happy, because they are happy. They’re laughing because they want to, and sure, sometimes we’re laughing together at how awkward it feels, but mostly they’re smiling and laughing at how much fun they’re having with each other 💕
Once you see that all the funny, crazy and weird things I'm asking you to do actually result in these amazing photos, something just clicks in people. I always know exactly when the penny drops in people and they think "Ohh okay - I GET IT NOW". That’s my favourite moment.

Heart Explosions 🥰
All it takes is an hour or so of our time, and you’ll get to walk away with a gallery full of photos that give you all kinds of heart explosions for lyfe - the kind of photos you’ll be proud to print and hang all over your house & share with your friends & family.
And if that lil mean voice in your head is doubting your photogenic qualities right now (again) just tell I said to shut up! 💪🏻

If we are shooting outdoors, the time of day we hold your session is super important. The general rule is that all outdoor sessions are held during the golden hour (either sunrise or sunset). Sunrise is the preferred option, as the weather is more predictable, kids are usually happier and there are less people around. Sunset sessions are available at specific locations.

I’m a classic over-sharer and an over-shooter - which means I usually take about 1000+ images. Because you’ll be moving so much, I often take multiple images every time I press the shutter - so when I say “blink-and-you’ll-miss-them type photos, I really mean it!!
You don’t want to sift through all of that! Part of my editing process is to hand select the best of the best of the best for editing, and these images end up in your gallery.
Before you panic - I’m an over-deliverer too. One of the most fascinating lessons I’ve learned is that the photos in my favourites list, will often be different to the photos in your favourites list. I tend to include everything that’s not a duplicate image, someone pulling a bad face or out of focus.
Your final gallery will still be huge, and you’ll have PLENTY of images. Everything in your gallery is yours to keep forever, but I find that most of my clients will love, print & share about half of them.

YES! Yes, yes, yes, yes! Love is LOVE. I wholeheartedly support my LBGTIQ+ friends, family and wider community. I adore photographing same sex weddings and families! The first time (and second..and third) time I heard the new amended reference that celebrants have to say at weddings (that a marriage is the union of two people, instead of man and woman) made me cry I was so happy!

Yes, of course. It's super important to me that I'm capturing how you and your family feel about adding a new member to the family!

For mama's-to-be, the most important thing is that you wear something you feel comfortable in. If you feel comfortable, it’s best to wear clothes that are tight around your belly, so we can see it (and that way you don’t need to hold your hand on your belly the whole time).
Simple, neutral colours are best (cream, grey, blues, dark olive greens and other similar colours always work well in front of the camera. After booking your session, you'll access to my preparation guide with more tips and guides for choosing our outfits.

You’ve got two options - an outdoor session, or a studio session.
Outdoor sessions are usually scheduled for early morning or late afternoon (starting about an hour after sunrise and an hour before sunset are usually the best times). For a full list of locations, please send me an email!
Studio sessions take place in my natural light-filled home studio located in Point Cook. The studio is open exclusively Wednesday to Friday, and sessions are best held in the middle hours of the day.

It's best to schedule your maternity session between 32 and 37 weeks, for your comfort, mobility and to ensure we are capturing your gorgeous bump. It also allows a little extra time at the end in case your little one is in a rush to meet you earlier than expected!
Our session will only go for an hour so you don’t need to worry about being on your feet for too long.

I'm located in Melbourne, and I equally love spending time with my couples in their home, and adventuring off the beaten path for these sessions. I've hiked the YouYangs, photographed my clients cliff jumping at Mt. Martha and wandered the bush with my couples, so I'm open to exploring almost anywhere.
At the end of the day though, the best locations are the ones that have meaning to you - for example, don’t choose a beach location if you aren’t beach people!
Some locations attract a travel fee.

My weekends are prime real estate, and are always booked well in advance, and it’s best to book in three months before Christmas if you want a school holiday session.
-
Absolutely! All you need to lock in your session is a $220 non-refundable booking fee, and the balance is split into 2 equal payments, due before your session date.

As soon as I am aware that I am unwell, or becoming unwell, I will provide you with as much notice as possible. Depending on my symptoms and how unwell I am, I will either completely reschedule your session to the next available date or alternatively provide you with the option to proceed if you would feel comfortable with that (for example if I have a very mild head cold and am otherwise totally fine).
If anyone in your family attending the session develops COVID like symptoms, I request that you let me know so we can reschedule your session, this helps me protect all my other small newborn clients & their families as well ♥

Every package includes access to a gallery of all your edited digital photos, that you can download in print & web resolution. You can always order fine art prints/albums from my pro-lab at any time.

We are a rainbow of colours and all of them are beautiful 😍 I’ve photographed several interacial couples, weddings and families and know how important it is for you that I capture and preserve your individual skin tones accurately. My editing style is minimal and I always make sure your skin tones are accurately represented in my final edits.

Meeeeee! Always me! Taking photos is only half of the job, editing your photos is where everything comes together.
While I occasionally use Photoshop to enhance and refine your photos, as well as removing pimples or sores on closeup photos, I do not use Photoshop to alter anyone’s appearance, or remove things that are permanently part of you. It’s my job to make you comfortable and to capture you and your loved ones just as you are.

Your photos will be ready in 4-6 weeks, and will be delivered to you via your online gallery. You can also order prints, frames or albums through your gallery!
