Tesselar Tulip Festival

I've got a thing for flowers - I even managed to grow bulbs this year!! So when a friend invited me along to the Tulip Festival on Friday, how could I say no?!  I almost didn't make it, as I had back to back sessions on Friday, but luckily we managed to get there with a few hours to spare.

Thankfully I had my camera's along for the ride, and I got to play with my new 50mm sigma art series lens, as well as my macro lens; it's been so long since I photographed something just for the pure joy of it. I was as happy as a pig in mud in the tulip fields, getting all arty-farty as my mother-in-law calls it haha.

I wanted to share a few of my favourite snaps with you, in case they inspire you to check it out too.

There are also lots of food trucks and wine + beer tasting stands as well (not photographed), and there's a Wizard of Oz theme in the other gardens. It was absolutely packed with people in the afternoon!!! So maybe a morning trip would be quieter, but either way, leave yourself a couple of hours to explore as the tulip fields are pretty big. There are so many different variations of tulips, even a few I've never seen before with frayed edge?! Crazy! The colours are out of control, and it's a visual feast, well worth the trip out there!!!

I think it's open until the 15th of October, and there were still quite a few tulips that had yet to open so you should still be in for a treat!
