LORNE ENGAGEMENT PHOTOGRAPHER
I’ve been spoiled with incredible clients this year, including these two beautiful souls who adventured the coastline of Lorne with me, bright and early one cold Autumn morning.
Doris and Eric are from Hong Kong, but Doris spent many years living here and wanted to show Eric all the things she loves about Australia, especially it’s raw, wild nature. She had planned an EPIC roadtrip around Victoria, and we only had a 2 day window to make this work 😬 - but make it work we did.
The weather was PERFECT - my favourite level of cloud cover; enough to let the light through but thick enough to work as the most gentle diffuser.
I took them to one of my new favourite spots along the Great Ocean Road, near Lorne; somewhere I’ve been dying to shoot at ever since the first time I was there and HECK it lived up to every expectation I had of it 😍😍.
And when you get #dreamclients + #dreamlocation …. magic happens.
I’ve looked back over these images so many times since their session; Doris has also ordered an album and I’m so excited to see it I might die of impatience.
My favourite images? The slightly blurry ones. It’s always the blurry photos that make me remember these things. That capture what the mind really sees, what the heart really feels - in a way that a photo rendered in the most perfect detail just can’t.
They fill me with nostalgia and remind me of simpler things - running down the beach, wind in my hair, sand in between my toes, the smell of the ocean filling my lungs, and laughter bubbling out of me without a care in the world.
These photos are always accidental, the result of the camera not focusing correctly. The type of photos many might throw away for its imperfections. But to me? They’re perfectly imperfect.
My other favourite image are the ones after the staircase set…I asked them to take a moment, and to think about how much they loved each other - and man, the way Doris looks at Eric makes me melt every time ♥. Capturing connection like this fills up my cup.
