Melbourne Maternity Photographer

Forget about all the things that make you feel self-conscious just for a moment, and instead think about all the love and excitement you are feeling. Think about the life growing inside you - it still blows my mind that there's a baby in there, a little human who will one day walk and talk and have their own amazing personality! And it all starts with you - growing humans is hard work and all these things should be celebrated.

This time will go so fast, and one day be a very distant memory. It's also a once in a lifetime event, because every pregnancy is unique - you can't get these moments back once they are gone.

There's no special lacy outfits with me, and I don't know about you, but I get kind of bored looking at maternity photos where the mama is framing her bump with her hands in every.single.photo.  Of course these photos are beautiful, and I'll always take a few, but honestly, I much prefer to capture these moments as they happen naturally. Like when you are just walking along, and you rest a hand gently on top. Or when you suddenly feel your little one kicking, and you guide your partner's hands over to feel it too.

I want to capture your glow, and above all else - I want to capture what it feels like, not just what it looks like.

My approach to photographing you and your partner is fun and easy. There’s no boring posing with me, I’m all about capturing what it feels like, not just what it looks like. Any posing that we do is casual, and I’ll be my general dorky, geeky and nerdy self to draw out your natural emotions. No matter what, your images will be real and honest, they will be wholehearted, and full of connection and movement, that tell a story of who you are and show the genuine love and affection between you.

If you do not take any images of this time in your life, you will never have them, ever. And while it may be your first or third pregnancy, each will deliver you an experience (and a baby) that is unique to this world.

I can also assure you that when your children are older, they will be delighted to see the photos of their pregnant mum, to see you and your emotions and to see how much you and your partner love each other...images like that are priceless.

Honestly - could they be any more photogenic if they tried?! Chantelle + Shaun were married not too long ago in Thailand, but soon after their ceremony their special day turned into a monsoon, which mean they didn't get any nice photos of them on their wedding day.

It was so important that I fix that for them! It was even more special this time because of the special little package Chantelle is carrying in her bump - I'm so excited to meet their little one it's not even funny! ♥

These two – oh my god, these two ♥♥

Gosh I don’t even know what to say about these two except that they are beautiful, beautiful humans. This little babe is already so loved, but once these guys holding and touching him or her I just know the love is going to explode and be zinging through the air something fierce.

Thank you for letting me capture some of your love bubble.

I love our photos so much, I bawled like a baby looking through our gallery!! You have done such a fabulous job of capturing our love and I am sooooo happy with them all - I’m so excited for you to photograph our baby!

I am so elated, and just keep thinking how lucky we are to have these images now. We had so much fun, and I love that you captured really natural and REAL shots that are filled with emotion. Thank you!!

For some people, the idea of having a maternity session is as exciting as the idea of having a baby, especially if you are experiencing a good pregnancy and feeling particularly glowy.

Pregnancy isn't always pretty though, and you wouldn’t be alone if your first thought was something like “OH HELL NO!” ...especially if your body has transformed to a place you might not have imagined it ever going - crazy hormones, lumpy and bumpy bodies, swollen ankles, stretch marks, unwanted kilos...I get it, when you think about these things, the last thing you want is for them to be captured.

BUT - this bump, and the little one inside it, is a once in a lifetime experience. It doesn't matter if this is your first or third pregnancy, each and every one will be different.

I can also assure you that when your children are older, they will be delighted to see the photos of their pregnant mum, to see you and your emotions and to see how much you and your partner love each other...images like that are priceless.  And what about YOU? What about in ten, twenty, thirty years when your memory is fading, when the babies are all big and grown up and moved out. You’ll come back to these images and love them, hard.

If you are you interested in having your bump and baby captured together, discounts are available when you book a maternity and simply natural newborn session at the same time.

You can see an example of a bump to baby session here, or over here.

+ What do we wear in our bump session?

For mama's-to-be, the most important thing is that you wear something you feel comfortable in.

If you feel comfortable, it’s best to wear clothes that are tight around your belly, so we can see it (and that way you don’t need to hold your hand on your belly the whole time).

Simple, neutral colours are best (cream, grey, blues, dark olive greens and other similar colours always work well in front of the camera.

After booking your session, you'll access to my prepartion guide with more tips and guides for choosing our outfits.

+ When do we schedule our maternity session?

It's best to schedule your maternity session between 32 and 37 weeks, for your comfort, mobility and to ensure we are capturing your gorgeous bump. It also allows a little extra time at the end in case your little one is in a rush to meet you earlier than expected!

I love to schedule my maternity sessions in the early morning or late afternoon (starting about an hour after sunrise and an hour before sunset are usually the best times) but I am happy to be guided by you and what times you feel best during the day – and our session will only go for an hour so you don’t need to worry about being on your feet for too long
